The New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program (NJMEP) is looking to bring New Jersey manufacturers together to support FIRST Mid-Atlantic Robotics – a program to establish more interest in STEM careers among New Jersey youths.
FIRST Robotics is the leading competition-based youth program that combines the excitement of sports with the rigors of science and technology. NJMEP is committing resources with matched donations through its “Manufacturing Cares” program, while also looking to grow the program in the New Jersey area through the following:
- Larger donations and support from companies, foundations and other groups that go directly toward providing funds to run FIRST Robotics events.
- Donations of all sizes to assist startup teams with tools and equipment.
- Volunteers, with or without technical backgrounds, to help the program run.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for the manufacturing community to get involved with the future generation of engineers and manufacturers,” said NJMEP CEO John W. Kennedy. “To help better establish the New Jersey manufacturing workforce of the future and proper pathways to careers in STEM, any support for the FIRST Mid-Atlantic Robotics program is greatly appreciated.”
NJMEP has partnered with the Team Eagle Foundation to raise funds for various “Manufacturing Cares” programs like FIRST Robotics. The Team Eagle Foundation and NJMEP will match the first $20,000 in donations dollar for dollar.
