New Jersey will allow health insurers to re-submit their rate requests for next year to account for the uncertainty of federal healthcare reform, Katie Jennings reports in PoliticoNJ.  (Read it here. Password required.)

Rate requests for plans offered on the federal health insurance exchanges were originally filed in June, while Congress was debating major changes to health insurance laws. Companies were uncertain of what the laws would be in 2018.

“Because of that uncertainty, DOBI is allowing health insurance carriers to submit more than one set of proposed rates. As a result, the federal report on initial rate filings this year provides an especially preliminary snapshot of carrier rate requests,” said state Department of Banking and Insurance spokesman Marshall McKnight.
