While Gov. Phil Murphy signed legislation Wednesday making $135 million in federal grants available to small businesses and nonprofits impacted by the pandemic, NJBIA Chief Government Affairs Officer Chrissy Buteas said New Jersey’s hiring crisis is still confronting New Jersey’s business community in a report on NJ Spotlight News.
“You don’t have to go very far to see all the for-hire signs and the hiring bonuses that all exist right now,” Buteas told NJ Spotlight News Senior Correspondent Brenda Flanagan.
“If we can just stress that the need to make sure our employees are there and they’re working is really critical to the business community at this point in time,” she said.
Gov. Murphy acknowledged New Jersey’s hiring challenges may get worse before they get better, with many college students beginning to give their notice.
