The first public meeting of the Cannabis Regulatory Commission (CRC) will take place on Monday, April 12 at 2 p.m.
The CRC is in charge of rulemaking and licensing for New Jersey’s adult-use cannabis industry. The rules must be finalized by late August, according to the legalization law signed by Gov. Phil Murphy in February. The commission must also set a date for the launch of adult use sales that falls within six months of the rules’ adoption.
CRC Chair Dianna Houenou said input from the public meeting will help form the expansion of the medical cannabis program and the establishment of a new adult-use cannabis marketplace in New Jersey.
“This will be the first meeting of many as we put the values of equity and safety into practice in regulating this new industry,” Houenou said.
