A U.S. Census Bureau Small Business Pulse Survey this week reported that less than 13% of small businesses are requiring workers to show proof they have been vaccinated.
The bureau defines small businesses as having fewer than 250 employees and less than $5 million in revenue. More than 30 states reported data for the study.
Hawaii had the most small businesses (31.5%) requiring vaccines for employees. In New Jersey, 17.6% of small businesses defined by the bureau mandated vaccines for employees – a little more than 5% higher than the national average of 12.5%.
Indiana, Georgia, Ohio, Oklahoma and Tennessee had some of the lowest rates of vaccine mandates for employees.
