U.S. News & World Report Ranks 8 New Jersey Colleges Among Best; Princeton Again No. 1 Payton Guion reports in The Star-Ledger/NJ.com that New Jersey has eight colleges ranked among the top schools in the country, according to the 2018 list from U.S. News and World Report, up from seven that made the grade in last year’s rankings. Rowan University is the newcomer of the N.J. schools that made the list, coming in at 171 after not being ranked last year.

Students returning for classes this semester see a new look to College Avenue in New Brunswick, as well as a brand new nursing and science building in Camden and a massive chemistry complex that’s towering over the Busch Campus in Piscataway.

State Labor Department Proposes Rules for New Jersey Innovation and Research Fellowship Program; Hearing Set for Oct. 9 The New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development published notice in the Sept. 5, New Jersey Register of proposed new rules relating to the New Jersey Innovation and Research Fellowship Program. A public hearing will be held on Oct. 9 at NJDLWD headquarters at John Fitch Plaza in Trenton, in the 10th floor conference room.

Carnegie Corp. Award for Stevens Institute President Nariman Farvardin Comes with $500K Grant Tom Bergeron reports on ROI-NJ, a new publication that just launched its website on Sept. 12 that Stevens Institute of Technology President Nariman Farvardin was one of seven college and university presidents selected by Carnegie Corp. of New York to receive the 2017 Academic Leadership Award, in recognition of exceptional leadership in higher education.. The award includes a $500,000 grant to each honoree’s institution. Stevens said the money will help fund academic initiatives.

NJEDA Internships Provide Real-World Experience Within New Jersey’s Innovation Ecosystem As part of its commitment to developing the next generation of technology and life sciences leaders, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority’s (EDA) Technology and Life Sciences (TLS) team offered two college interns the opportunity to experience New Jersey’s vibrant innovation economy firsthand this summer. The interns benefited from working at the EDA’s Commercialization Center for Innovative Technologies (CCIT) in North Brunswick, a nationally respected incubation facility dedicated to life sciences and biotechnology companies.
