A short film on the longest-serving statehouse reporter in America will premiere at the upcoming 21st annual Garden State Film Festival.

Joseph Albright, who was in his 58th year as a reporter and columnist for the Jersey Journal when we passed away at age 93 last May, is the subject of “Saint Joseph.” Albright was also known to reporters, Trenton politicians, statehouse staffers and residents for his daily ritual of feeding pigeons, squirrels and stray cats and then blessing them while he was living in Trenton.

A trailer for the film can be found here.

“Some called Joe the ‘Saint Francis of the Statehouse,” said Tim Stollery, an Emmy-winning producer and videographer who directed the film. “That was in reference to Saint Francis of Assisi, who was known as the patron saint of pets and animals.”

“Saint Joseph” is a project of the Corporation for New Jersey Local Media (www.newsweneed.org), a nonprofit that builds strong communities through local journalism and civic engagement.

“Saint Joseph” will premiere Saturday, March 25 in a block of six short films starting at 2:45 p.m. at the Berkeley Continental ballroom at the Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel, Asbury Park.
