On Monday, the state Senate narrowly passed legislation that NJBIA says will result in burdensome requirements, and possibly lawsuits, on temporary staffing agencies and the third-party companies that utilize them.
One provision in bill A-1474/S-511, requires temporary workers to receive the same compensation and benefits as their equivalent employee counterparts.
Other business impacts on the bill can be found here.
The 21-15 vote came after a previously unplanned Senate resolution vote to allow members to remotely attend and vote during the session, a good indication that there may have not been enough votes in person to advance the bill to Gov. Phil Murphy’s desk.
