Stemming the Tide of STEM Students’ Outmigration
Brain Drain. It’s the phrase for the best and brightest New Jersey high school students leaving the state. And it’s a frequent lament of business leaders, politicians, university officials, economists and – for those of us paying out-of-state tuition – parents. The Research & Development Council of New Jersey is doing something about it. In fact, it has been for the past five years. The Governor’s STEM Scholars program identifies nearly 100 top scholars in the state – in high school through doctoral programs – and runs a yearlong research program that aims to show them all of the possibilities in STEM that exist in New Jersey if they stay home for school.

South Jersey Healthcare Startup Raises $3.5 Million
A South Jersey life sciences company developing a blood test for the early detection of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease, when treatments are likely to be more effective, has raised $3.5 million in equity financing. The private stock sale was disclosed by Durin Technologies Inc. of Mullica Hill in documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) issued a reminder today that the expansion of the State’s Angel Investor Tax Credit Program went into effect on January 1, 2020.
