New Jersey has an excellent chance of being home to Amazon’s second headquarters, NJBIA’s Michele Siekerka tells Asbury Park Press business writer Michael Diamond as state officials announce they will bid on the project.
Diamond writes, “While the state might have written off a chance to lure, say, a carmaker looking for inexpensive land and labor, its profile is better suited to the factors Amazon says it is looking for.” After all, New Jersey has already attracted four Amazon distribution centers in the state and it has plenty of tech talent, shovel-ready real estate, good quality of life and lots of people.
Amazon sent out a request for proposals for a location for what it calls “H2Q” last week. The project is estimated to bring $5 billion in investment and 50,000 jobs to wherever it is located.
