SheTek, a leading nonprofit committed to increasing the number of women and allies in the technology industry, will hold its virtual 2021 SheTek Annual Conference on Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 26-27, featuring discussions with experts in IT and workforce development, including two NJBIA leaders.

The SheTek conference, which runs from 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. both days, is a virtual deep dive into the latest tech opportunities, topics, and trends. There will be panel discussions and interactive workshops on data analytics, visualization and the role of AI, current industry trends, gender balance in the workforce, leadership and mentorship, and entrepreneurship.

NJBIA President & CEO Michele Siekerka will moderate the Oct. 26 panel discussion, “Current Industry Trends and Workforce Development,” featuring these four expert panelists:

·      Chrissy Buteas, NJBIA Chief Government Affairs Officer

·      Aaron Fichtner, President of the New Jersey Council of County Colleges

·      Lesley Hirsch, Assistant Commissioner of Research and Information at the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development

  • Jackie Burke, Executive Director of the Council of County Vocational-Technical Schools

Beth Simone Noveck, Ph.D., New Jersey’s chief innovation officer, will be the event’s keynote speaker. In addition to leading the Garden State’s efforts to enhance the state’s innovation economy, Noveck is also director of GovLab, an online community-based organization working to strengthen the ability of institutions and people to collaborate more openly and effectively.

Other panel discussions include “Entrepreneurship and Bootstrapping,” moderated by Jim Barrood, president and CEO at TechUnited; and “A Conversation with the Next Gen SheTekkies,” featuring a panel of female students a variety of New Jersey colleges and universities who will discuss their future careers in technology and how they plan to get there.
