Amy Mansue, Executive Vice President and Chief Experience Officer at RWJBarnabas Health, is the recipient of NJBIA’s 2019 Caren Franzini Leadership Award.
RWJBarnabas Health’s Amy Mansue, a healthcare executive whose trailblazing career in both public service and the private sector has made her a role model for a new generation of leaders, will be the 2019 recipient of the New Jersey Business & Industry Association’s Caren Franzini Leadership Award.
Mansue will receive the award at NJBIA’s 5th Annual Women Business Leaders Forum: “Owning Your Success,” an event that regularly draws hundreds of attendees, both women and men, who participate alongside top business leaders and experts who share advice for professional advancement. This year’s two-day event will be held Sept. 19-20 at the Ocean Place Resort & Spa in Long Branch.

Mansue brings more than 30 years’ experience in healthcare and government service to her current position as Executive Vice President and Chief Experience Officer at RWJBarnabas Health, which encompasses 11 hospitals and manages the care of 5 million people. RWJBarnabas Health is also the state’s largest private employer with more than 45,000 employees, physicians, residents and interns.
Prior to joining RWJBarnabas Health, Mansue served for 12 years as President and CEO of Children’s Specialized Hospital, and Chief Strategy Officer, Robert Wood Johnson Health System. Her public sector experience began as a Legislative Aide in former Gov. Jim Florio’s congressional office. Later, she served as a Deputy Commissioner at the New Jersey Department of Human Services in the Florio administration, where she oversaw programs for children and people with disabilities. Mansue also served as Deputy Chief of Staff to former Gov. James McGreevey, and as co-chair of the Budget Transition Advisory Committee for then Gov.-elect Phil Murphy.
Active in a wide range of public and private organizations, Mansue serves on the boards of the New Jersey Hospital Association; the State Chamber of Commerce; Rutgers University; New Brunswick Development Corporation (DEVCO); Middlesex Water Company; and several nonprofit boards.
The Caren Franzini Leadership Award honors the legacy of the former longtime chief executive of the New Jersey Economic Development Authority, who died in 2017. Franzini worked with seven governors from 1994 to 2012 to promote entrepreneurial development and economic growth, particularly in New Jersey’s largest cities. After her tenure at EDA, Franzini served on NJBIA’s board of trustees until her death at age 57.
“Caren Franzini was an incredible leader,” Siekerka said. “Her ability to bring people together, build consensus and get things done was remarkable — and she did it quietly and professionally. Our business community still mourns her loss, as does the greater community at large, where she also made a profound impact.”
