Rutgers University Launches TechAdvance Funding Program to Advance Inventions Toward Commercialization Rutgers University’s Office of Research Commercialization (ORC) announces TechAdvance, a new fund created to advance Rutgers technologies toward commercialization. The fund offers grants of up to $100,000 for promising technologies in areas including life science, physical science, engineering, agriculture and IT that have strong potential for commercial success but are “too early” for investors or industry partners.

Sixers Innovation Lab in Camden Officially Opens to Entrepreneurs; Four Companies Taking Space Vince Calio reports in NJBIZ that the Sixers Innovation Lab Crafted by Kimball officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 18 at the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers’ training facility in Camden. Trump has announced the White House Office of American Innovation (OAI). The statement said the OAI will make recommendations to the president on policies and plans that improve government operations and services, improve the quality of life for Americans now and in the future, and spur job creation. Stevens Institute of Technology Researchers Receive Carnegie-MacArthur Award to Raise Nuclear Terrorism Awareness, Develop VR for Public Education A joint program funded by the Carnegie Corporation of New York and the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation has awarded a trio of Stevens Institute of Technology faculty researchers $500,000 to broadly assess and redefine U.S. civil defense. They will study how to communicate the latest science and technology to educate the public about the threat of nuclear terrorism as well as what measures to take if a nuclear event occurs.
Rowan’s College of Education Joins Consortium for the Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate Rowan University’s College of Education was recently accepted as a new member of the Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate (CPED). Headquartered at the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Education, CPED is both a collaborative effort to promote excellence for the educational doctorate (Ed.D.) and a design-based research project. Rowan will join 21 other new institutions and 80 existing members committed to learning together and engaging in a process of innovation.
