Applications will be accepted until Friday, Aug. 19 for the 2022 TechUnited Better Planet Challenge, a startup competition that will award $50,000 to a small business with the most innovative approach for decarbonization or fossil fuel alternatives.
The annual competition, now in its third year, is sponsored by PSEG, the state’s largest utility company, and TechUnited New Jersey, a nonprofit organization that represents over 500,000 innovators in the business and technology industry. In addition to the prize money, the winner will also benefit from executive mentorship and recognition as a tech leader.
To qualify for the BetterPlanet Challenge, applicants must be a U.S.-based startup that has raised under $1 million or generated less than $2 million in revenue. The clean energy solution should be able to be affordably implemented and can include software, hardware or a combination of the two. Preference will be given to New Jersey-based companies, solutions that create jobs in New Jersey, and solutions that are most impactful.
Startups working on solutions that provide innovative approaches to decarbonization or fossil fuel alternatives are encouraged to apply. The winner will be announced at the 2022 Propelify Innovation Festival that will take place Oct. 6 on the Hoboken waterfront. More details and the online application can be found here.
