Focus NJ: The Center for Economic Research & Workforce Solutions has received a $1,000 grant from the Investors Foundation to help fund the nonprofit’s research on public policies, industry trends, and economic indicators that affect New Jersey’s affordability, workforce and competitiveness.

“The economic and workforce disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic have made it more important than ever to conduct quality research on how to best prepare New Jersey’s workforce for the skillsets and jobs of the future,” said Focus NJ Executive Director Nicole Sandelier. “Focus NJ is grateful for the Investors Foundation’s support of our mission.”

Focus NJ conducts research into the industry trends, challenges and opportunities that will impact jobs in the decades ahead to ensure that New Jersey’s leaders in business, academia, and government all have the most current industry data and projections. It recently completed a yearlong Industry Series Study with reports detailing the changing dynamics, opportunities, and threats to seven different key industries and made recommendations on how to better prepare New Jersey’s workforce pipeline.

In the coming weeks, Focus NJ will be releasing a new report, “The Education Equation Part 2: Strategies to Reskill, Reshape & Rehire NJ’s Workforce,” featuring 18 recommendations for expanding business, academic and government partnerships; training for current and future jobs; and ensuring more equitable access to education and workforce development opportunities for all New Jersey residents.
